Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How do you score Nectar in the Oceania Expansion?
Scoring Nectar is a key part of the Oceania expansion. At the end of the game, you look at each of your three habitats (Forest, Grassland, and Wetland). The player(s) with the most Nectar spent in each habitat row scores 5 points. The player(s) in second place for each habitat score 2 points. Note that Nectar spent on bird cards or to refresh the bird tray does not count for this bonus. Our calculator automatically handles multiplayer scoring when you activate the ‘Oceania (Nectar)’ toggle, but for solo mode, you should add these bonus points manually in the “End-of-Round Goals” field.
What’s a good score in Wingspan?
A “good” score in Wingspan can vary greatly depending on player count and expansions used. Generally speaking:
- 60-70 points: A typical score for a new player.
- 70-90 points: A solid, competitive score in most games.
- 90-100+ points: An excellent score, indicating a very efficient engine and strong strategy.
- 120+ points: An exceptionally high score, often achieved with the help of expansions like Oceania, which tend to increase overall scores.
How does the Automa score in solo mode?
The Automa’s score is calculated differently from a human player’s. It scores points based on two main sources:
- End-of-Round Goals: The Automa scores points based on its performance on the round goal, as determined by the Automa cards.
- Face-down Bird Cards: At the end of the game, the Automa gains a certain number of points for the bird cards it has collected face-down throughout the game. The value per card is listed on its difficulty level card.
Our calculator’s “Solo (Automa)” mode provides separate fields for you and the Automa to make tracking the Wingspan Automa score simple and accurate.
Can this calculator handle other expansions like European or Asia?
Yes, our calculator is designed to be flexible. The core scoring categories (Birds, Bonus Cards, Eggs, etc.) are the same across all expansions. Specific new scoring mechanisms, like the Duet mode tokens in the Asia expansion, can be added to the “End-of-Round Goals” category or a similar existing field. We have explicitly included the ‘Oceania (Nectar)’ toggle as it introduces a new, distinct scoring row.
